Sweater Weather | TAG

Hey everyone!

I've decided to do my very first tag. And I'm pretty excited about it, I must say, especially since it is so autumnal and cosy and hot-chocolate/cinnamon/pinewood scented and all that good stuff. I mean, who doesn't love a good snuggle by the fire? Enjoy!

(Inspired by Niamh's blog - why not check it out?)

  • Favorite candle scent?
Can we all just agree that candles are bæ when it comes to sweater weather? The capability of choosing just one thing (whether that be an ice cream flavor or fave song) is a talent I have not yet mastered, but I have fallen in love this crisp apple and cinnamon darling (bottom of page).

  • Coffee, tea or hot chocolate?
Coffee. Black like my soul (but milky Darjeeling is another favourite of mine).

  • Best autumn memory?
Reciting a poem to an old neighbor when trick-or-treating. She joined in and I could even make out the glint of a tear in her eye. That's something I will never forget.

  • Makeup: winged eyeliner or dark lips?
I love me a bitta berry on my beak and a flick of frozen black on my eyes (oh those Autumn trends!). However, I think a pair of plump rouge lips is what I like to go for.

  • What do you want to be for Halloween?
Oh please, Olaf is coming through, everybody!

  • Hats or scarves?
Beanies are my fave (although I do not have the skills to pull one off).

  •  Most worn sweater?
Like, just about every one I own! I think my absolute favourite one, however, has to be be a white oversized jumper from Abercrombie & Fitch.

  • Fave Autumn nail polish?
Deep reds and plum colors remind me of snobby old women, which I don't always enjoy being reminded of, thank you very much - I'm more of a pastel-nails-even-though-it's-Autumn-like-I-don't-care-throw-my-hands-up-in-the-air kinda gal, and absolutely lav to sport Rimmel London's Breakfast in Bed on my nails all year round.

  • Skinny jeans or leggings?
Skinny jeans are one of my closet staple MUST HAVES, so definitely those!

  • Boots or Uggs?
Uggs are darlings, I've gotta say, but sorry, it's a no from me. Boots are much more stylish and make it look as though you put in much more effort than you actually did (shout out to all you lazy people AKA moi), while Uggs just make it look as though all you wear is slippers 24/7 (please excuse the negativity!)

I hope you've enjoyed my very first tag, please let me know in the comments whether you'd like me to continue dabbling in Q&As and the like. Personally, I absolutely love to share funky little details about myself with you!

the day i didn't stay in & watch netflix | a day in the life

Hey everyone.

My Saturdays (and, like, every day that I ever live) mainly consist of me lying in my room watching TV shows and guzzling whatever I can find in the fridge. Yesterday, I got one of those boosts of motivation and shuffled out of my cozy nook and into town, where I made the mistake of taking too many photos (as per usual). This is the result. Enjoy!

spiced quinoa recipe + mr bean

Hey everyone,

Did you know that quinoa is not a grain, but a vegetable (probably in disguise)? Or that you're actually able to make a dessert from it? Wait what? Um, yaaas . . .

Here is one of my favourite fall dessert/breakfast ideas for when the leaves turn brown and all you want to do is curl up and watch Mr Bean's Holiday and be reminded of those yummy summer days.

ingredients
  • 1 cup of almond milk
  • 1/2 a cup of organic quinoa
  • a snowfall of ground cloves
  • a shimmer of mixed spices

how to make this magical badboy
  • Mix the spices and almond milk over a medium heat until smooth and as gold as the leaves outside your window
  • Pour in the quinoa and stir occasionally, while following the orders on the packet
Enjoy!

Fitness Routine 2K14

Hey everyone!

So I like to work out -
                      wait, what?

I know, I know, sometimes even I ask myself am I really human, but all doctors seem to tell me that I am so I keep on believing it.

I try to fit exercise into my daily routine as much as possible because after I finish a workout, there's always a kind of motivational spring to mah step. Ya feel me? Probably not - even I don't understand what I say most of the time, but it made sense in my head, k?

- run, abby, run -

The first fitness bæ of mine is going for a reliable run. Ah, that'll never let you down . . . I like to begin slowly and then start sprinting towards the end. It's just one of those cardio classics you need no equipment for, which is always cool.

When I haven't been inspired enough to go for a good ole fashioned run, or if there's the slightest hint of drizzle outside, I like to hit the floor and throw myself onto the mat to do some Pilates with the one and only Cassey Ho (you can check out her blog here). The best thing about this is that she talks to you throughout the whole entire workout like a good pal and that's really encouraging.

- swimming -

Being part of the local swim club is great craic because while keeping your fitness levels sky-high, it permits you to keep up yo' social side too. I train three times a week (before school, eww), which is really sweet because it means I don't have to go for a run or do a sweaty workout every single day!

Eating clean is also a pretty big deal for me, so I like transforming fruit n' veg into buckets of smoothies, which is cool for school lunches or even as a snack. (I wrote a post on one of my favourite smoothie bæs here btw, check it out if you like!).

the perfect smoothie

Hey everyone!

Ever since the green smoothie became the whole schbang, I pulled out my creativity and my blender and decided to do a bit of experimenting. Rising and shining in the mornings is always a bumpy road to take, but this smoothie definitely helps smooth it out a little.

ingredients

Organic dark cocoa powder
Almond milk
Stevia (optional)
Oats
Vanilla essence
Frozen banana chunks
A pinch of salt

how to make this magical bad boy

Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth and chunk-free and you can't resist the urge to drink anymore!

This smoothie is perfect as a sneaky pre-workout treat, dessert or for supping on the way to school/work. Enjoy!
